I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) and have a responsibility to inform clients about data that is collected and what is done with it. This page is for anyone who contacts me in my capacity as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am personally responsible for all aspects of data control and collection. What Data do I collect and why?

• Contact information. This includes email, and telephone number. This information is used to enable me to confirm or cancel appointments and send information regarding the service.
• GP details. This is collected in case there is a mental health crisis and will only be used with permission.
• Address. This is necessary in case of crisis.
• Information about your health which may be necessary to support the therapy.
• Dates and times of our sessions and short notes to help me work with you.


By using the contact form on the website or the email address consent has been given for me to reply to you using your email address. By providing your telephone number consent has been given for me to contact you by telephone. For clients requesting therapy, consent is obtained at the first appointment. Consent is permission for me to have and store some personal data as outlined above. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.


I will not share your information with a third party unless it is necessary to comply with legal obligations, for example a disclosure you might make or if data was subpoenaed by a judge.

What do I do with your Data?

Data you provide is used to facilitate and inform the work done in therapy. Your information is stored in a lockable filing cabinet. At the end of therapy, your records will be kept for 5 years to meet the requirements of my professional insurance. After this time your data is shredded. Your contact details will be deleted from my phone within three months of our last session.

What are your rights?

Under data protection legislation you have the right to access the information stored about you. I will respond to a written request for this within 2 weeks.

How to make a complaint regarding the use of your data

In the first instance complaints should be addressed to me, if my response is unsatisfactory you can complain to the Information Commissioners Office
